Because he has set his love on me, therefore I will deliver him. I will set him on high, because he has known my name.
–Psalm 91:14
If you drive, think back to the day you passed your driver’s test.
Prior to taking the test, you studied the manual and practiced driving to the best of your ability so you could hear the words, “You pass.”
But then what? Did passing the test give you the right to drive however you wanted to, ignoring all the rules of the road you had worked so hard to learn?
Of course not!
You know that with the privilege of driving comes the responsibility of obeying the rules.
Nearly everything we do comes with a certain degree of responsibility—and that includes our relationship with the Lord.
In order to receive the privileges of being God’s child, we accept the responsibility of choosing faith over fear. We believe what God says: that He loves us and has a plan for us that includes success, victory, and abundant blessings of peace, love, comfort, protection, security, satisfaction, and eternal life with Him.
Speaking for myself, I can easily say I’m getting far more than I deserve or am capable of giving back. That’s why we must strive to live each day reflecting our gratitude for the privileges God has granted.
Prayer
Loving God, You are too good to me. I don’t deserve Your love and attention, but I am thankful for it. I pray now that I will never forget to show You and tell You just how thankful I am. In Jesus’ blessed name I pray, Amen.
Reflection
In what ways can I choose faith over fear today? How can I use my energy not to worry, but to believe that God's plan for me is the best?
