May the Lord direct your hearts into God’s love, and into the perseverance of Christ.
–2 Thessalonians 3:5
When I read today’s verse I think about people like Ginnie, who persevered in God’s love even though she didn’t know the love of a mom or dad for many years in her life.
I think of Bev, who perseveres in God’s love, having rocked countless babies and served as God’s instrument for giving thousands of babies and children their forever families despite obstacles and roadblocks.
I think of the parents of a precious two-year-old who persevere in God’s love in spite of the fact that their son will not live to see his fifth birthday unless God miraculously intervenes.
Life is unpredictable. Even if we say and do all the right things and make all the right choices, it only takes a second for someone else’s wrong word, action, or choice to make us spin out of control. We are all vulnerable.
Life may feel like it’s spinning wildly right now. Or maybe it will happen tomorrow or next month. The “when” doesn’t really matter. What matters is that you don’t give up. Persevere.
Keep holding on to God, persevere in His love, and let Him get you headed in the right direction.
Prayer
Dear God, Please give me the courage and wisdom to stay focused on You. Help me use what strength I have to hold on to You instead of trying to handle life on my own. In the name of Jesus I pray, Amen.
Reflection
When has God’s strength and wisdom helped me persevere through a rough situation?
