She opens her mouth with wisdom. Kind instruction is on her tongue.
–Proverbs 31:26
My junior year of college was a struggle, to say the least.
So many things seemingly went wrong, but in the middle of that mess, God gave me a mentor who will always hold a special place in my heart.
I worked for the campus ministries department of my university, and the assistant chaplain decided to join me in my mess and be a faithful teacher for me. She allowed herself to be an instrument that God could use because she was faithful in her own walk with God. Out of her own connection with God, she was able to speak spiritual wisdom into my life.
It seems to be a rare thing these days to find people who are willing to be spiritual mentors, yet it is the very thing that could help us most.
Proverbs 31 talks of the qualities of a woman who is far more valuable than rubies. One of her qualities, as described here in verse 26, is that she speaks wisdom and gives faithful instruction.
When we, as women or men of God, allow ourselves to be changed by Him, then we can become the faithful teachers He desires us all to be for those around us. You can be a faithful teacher, speaking truth and wisdom, wherever you may be when you partner with God.
Prayer
Heavenly Lord, Thank You for the faithful teachers You have put in my life. Please help me to be a positive influence on others. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
Reflection
Is God asking me to be a faithful teacher to someone? Who? How will I respond?
