I have told you these things, that in me you may have peace. In the world you have trouble; but cheer up! I have overcome the world.
–John 16:33
Stress. It’s a rat in our routine, so to speak.
Of all the troubles that can affect our bodies, it is the symptoms of constant stress that grow diseases, mental disorders, wrinkles, and grey hairs. Stress disrupts the work of nearly every organ of the body causing headaches, stomach aches, muscle aches, depression, heartburn, high blood pressure, high blood sugar, insomnia and fertility problems!
Stress chews up our ability to function the way God intended.
“Peace!” declares Jesus, like a firm hand on our shoulder, like a salve on our burdened hearts. He knows how we run and fret. He knows how deadlines, demanding voices, and broken things oppress us.
He knows.
He has walked this path before. Even now He is stepping on it with you. “Look at Me,” He advises. “Talk to Me. See My perspective. Adopt My priorities.”
Your body and mind need peace. Take a deep breath and let Jesus get rid of the rat in your routine.
Whatever your circumstances, if you have Jesus in your heart, you can be a person of peace.
Prayer
Dear Jesus, I offer myself, heart and soul, to You. Please guide me as I go through my day. Show me the path You have prepared for me. Please bless my efforts. Give me peace and tranquility. Thank You for hearing and answering my prayer. Amen.
Reflection
Do I live a stressful life? How do I pray about it? How often do I ask God to help me bring peace to my mind and body, no matter what growth is required?
