But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
–Galatians 5:22-23
I’ll never forget the day my dear friends stopped by with a beautiful fruit platter after my discharge from the hospital.
I had just delivered twins via Cesarean and everything I ate spiked my blood pressure. The fruit was the perfect postpartum gift. The platter was an artful array of pineapples, strawberries, melons, grapes, and apples. I ate it all and enjoyed each bite.
God has gifted you and me with a spiritual fruit platter — the fruit of the Spirit — that meets every human craving. All we have to do to access it is to be filled with His Holy Spirit.
Unlike strawberries and melons on a fruit platter, the fruit of the Spirit helps us to live victorious lives in Christ. As we abide in Jesus, the Spirit of God moves on our hearts and molds us into the likeness of Christ.
The likeness of Christ in our lives allows the spiritual fruit to blossom and flourish within so we can reflect God’s character and be transformed.
Our fruit of the Spirit empowers us to display the character of God more clearly in our everyday lives and to live triumphantly so God’s glory shines through.
Prayer
Holy Heavenly Lord, I hunger and thirst for more of You. Please transform me with Your Holy Spirit so I can live a victorious life of surrender unto You. Help me to live a life that is a virtual feast of Your grace. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
Reflection
In what ways does the Spirit of God empower me? What are some of my favorite Spiritual fruits?
