Praise God and Be Renewed

A devotion on Psalm 89:1

I will sing of the loving kindness of the LORD forever. With my mouth, I will make known your faithfulness to all generations.
–Psalm 89:1

It is about time for you to sing!

Why? Because God created you and loves you! You are God’s precious treasure. You are His unique masterpiece. The prophet Zephaniah tells us that God, who is mighty and who saves us, loves us so much He rejoices over us with singing (Zephaniah 3:17).

God is surrounded by angels who sing to Him, lifting their perfect, sinless voices in praise. Yet there is one song He values higher than angel-song: yours.

“Sing praises to Him. Tell of all His marvelous works. Glory in His holy name…” (1 Chronicles 16:9-10).

Thirty-six Psalms tell of singing praises to God. (See Psalm 9, 30, 47, and 68 for some beautiful poetic examples.)

In the New Testament, Romans 15:9, Hebrews 2:12, and James 5:13 all encourage believers to sing praises to God.

God wants you to be blessed, prosperous, successful, strong, creative, focused, confident, secure, talented, and disciplined because you are His highly-favored child.

When you sing and offer up praises to God, you will experience His presence. It will give you confidence to claim the present and the future He has designed for you! So lift up your voice and sing!

Dear God, Let me sing praises to You every day in every situation so I can experience Your holy power and blessings. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

What songs of praise will I sing to God today? I will sing them from my heart so I can feel His presence.
