But when this perishable body will have become imperishable, and this mortal will have put on immortality, then what is written will happen: “Death is swallowed up in victory.”
–1 Corinthians 15:54
If you’ve suffered the death of a beloved pet then perhaps you’ve heard of the Rainbow Bridge.
This otherworldly place became so named through several works of poetry in the late 1900s. Pet lovers all over the world have found solace in the idea that their beloved pet has crossed into a beautiful world where they will one day be reunited with their owner. For those who have truly loved an animal, the Rainbow Bridge helped remove the sting of loss.
Heaven is our Rainbow Bridge -- but it’s real!
Jesus said before He ascended that He was going to prepare a place for us (John 14:1-3), a place where this perishable body will be imperishable, a place where life will go on without aging, without weakening, without breaking down.
Jesus said, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will still live, even if he dies. Whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?" (John 11:25-26). If you believe in Jesus, you do not fear death because Jesus moves you from death to life (John 5:24).
The key is to make sure to have an intimate relationship with Jesus in all you do, then one day He will call you to live with Him for eternity.
Prayer
Dear Jesus, Thank You for preparing a place where we can live together forever. Thank You for overcoming death, so I need never fear it. I love You. Amen.
