David said to Solomon his son, “Be strong and courageous, and do it. Don’t be afraid, nor be dismayed; for the LORD God, even my God, is with you. He will not fail you, nor forsake you, until all the work for the service of the LORD’s house is finished.”
–1 Chronicles 28:20
God assures you that you have nothing to fear — especially not other people’s opinions.
He will never leave you or forsake you. He promises to give you victory over your enemies.
Now you can willingly and faithfully follow where Jesus leads, for He promises: “I have told you these things, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have trouble, but cheer up! I have overcome the world” (John 16:33).
John Wesley (1703-1791) may have had this promise in mind when he said, “Give me a hundred men who fear nothing but sin and desire nothing but God, and I will shake the world. I care not a straw whether they be clergymen or laymen, and such alone will overthrow the kingdom of Satan and build up the Kingdom of God on earth.”
With this wonderful promise, do not pray for an easy life. Pray, instead, to be a stronger person. Do not pray for tasks equal to your powers. Pray for powers equal to your mission.
You can boldly face your life today with Jesus because courage is not the absence of fear. Courage in Jesus’ leading gives you mastery over fear, just as Jesus had.
Prayer
Loving God, Thank You for being a ready and constant source of courage. With You on my side, I have nothing to fear. I know You will never fail me. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
Reflection
What would I do for Jesus, if I knew I could not fail? Jesus is on my side. What is keeping me from stepping out in faith?
