To Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling that speaks better than that of Abel.
–Hebrews 12:24

In all the universe, there is no better blood than the blood of Christ.

As Paul points out in today’s verse, when Jesus died on the cross, his blood paid the price for all humanity’s sins. Though Abel’s blood cried out to God for justice (Genesis 4:10), Jesus’ blood brings something better: grace.

By the grace of God, the Holy Spirit led you to Jesus. Make sure to claim the power that Jesus’ blood affords when you feel guilty, lost, and helpless.

The blood of Jesus alone is your everlasting hope. Imagine kneeling at the foot of the cross of Christ. The blood of Jesus that covers the cross and sprinkles on the ground is shed for you. Each drop of His blood is the music of heaven to our earthly ears.

Each precious drop cries, “It is finished; I have made an end of sin; I have brought in everlasting righteousness” (John 19:30; Daniel 9:24).

As Christians, we return to the cross again and again, constantly (Hebrews 12:2). Every time you return, you have the joy and privilege of rediscovering that there is nothing sweeter or more powerful in the world.

Prayer

Heavenly Lord, Help me to come to Christ now so I can have real joy and comfort. I accept Jesus’ blood to cover my sins and sinful life. Help me to live in the new life bought by Christ’s blood. In the name of Jesus, who streamed precious blood for me on the cross, I pray, Amen.

Reflection

How can I better express my thanks to Jesus for the gift of His sacrifice on my behalf?
