Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light for my path.
–Psalm 119:105
While growing up, I was afraid of the dark.
Even when I was a teenager, I preferred to have a night light in or near my bedroom. My overactive imagination could think of a hundred and one awful things waiting for me in the darkness.
When surrounded by darkness, I felt lost and confused. I didn’t know where was safe or which way to go.
As soon as I saw a light, I would be attracted to it, hoping to know where I was going and to feel secure.
God’s Word is like a light for us in this life.
Life can be dark, frightening, and confusing. We may not know what to do in a crisis or where to go next in our lives. God wants to guide us with His Word. Through it, He can tell us where we are, where we are going, and what to do next.
How can we get this guidance? By reading and meditating on God’s Word every day. The more we get to know God’s Word, the more God can speak to us.
Let God’s Word be a light to your path today.
Reflection
What are some things I need guidance about today? I will write them down, read God’s Word, and ask Him to light my path.
Prayer
Holy Lord, Thank You for guiding me every step of my way. You are both a pillar of cloud that covers and cools me, and a pillar of fire that lights and warms me. You are my Light and my life. Help me to reflect Your light to others. In Jesus’ precious name I pray, Amen.
