But to each one of us, the grace was given according to the measure of the gift of Christ.
–Ephesians 4:7
Corrie ten Boom was once asked how she survived the horrible experiences of being a prisoner in a concentration camp during World War II.
She answered that when she was a little girl, her father never gave her the ticket she needed to ride on the train with the rest of her family until the very moment she had to hand it to the steward in order to board.
He didn’t give it to her in advance because he was concerned she might lose it.
She continued, saying, “God doesn’t give us the grace we need until we’re about to step onboard. If He did, we might use it up or lose it before we get to the place where we really need it. But I can assure you that if you ever go through something like I did in the concentration camp, God’s grace will be there to help you make it through the dark valleys, to keep your head held high and your heart filled with love.”
No matter what you are facing now or what lies ahead in your future, you can be sure God will give you the ticket of grace He purchased for you through the giving of His son, Jesus, on the cross.
