“Speak to all the congregation of the children of Israel, and tell them, ‘You shall be holy; for I, the LORD your God, am holy.’”
–Leviticus 19:2
God embodies holiness. Holiness is what He gives to His believers.
When you believe in Jesus and are close to Him, you want to be like Him. You willingly want to be of one mind with God, as you find His character depicted in the Bible.
As time goes on and you immerse yourself in studying God’s Word, you get in the habit of agreeing with Jesus’ judgment, hating what He hates, loving what He loves, and measuring everything in this world by the standard of the Word of God.
Only through continual walking with Jesus you can live a holy life. When filled with the Holy Spirit of God, your focus is not on you; it’s on Christ. When you think of Jesus all the time, then He will become your holiness (1 Corinthians 1:30).
In other words, Jesus is the only way you can live a holy life. He is also the only way you may receive the Holy Spirit into your life. Jesus’ death on the cross paid the penalty for all your sins. No one could have done it but Jesus (1 Corinthians 15:12-26). He is our holiness.
Prayer
Holy Lord, Thank You for being my holiness and for paying the price for my sins. Thank You for Your lasting promise of resurrection and eternal life. Help me to daily place my life in Your hands. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
Reflection
Am I in Jesus and is Jesus in me? How can I be with Him all the time?
