Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.”
–Mark 9:23
In Mark 9:17-29, the Bible tells us about a boy who was demon-possessed.
He suffered terribly, unable to control himself from falling into the fire or into the water. His parents could do nothing to help him.
While Jesus was away, the boy’s father took him to Jesus’ disciples and asked them to heal him. They could not do it, so the boy’s father found Jesus and said, “If you can do anything, can you heal my son?”
Jesus looked at the father indignantly and said, “‘If you can?’ Everything is possible for him who believes.”
The boy’s father realized Jesus was criticizing his lack of faith, so he cried out, “Help my unbelief! I do believe.”
Jesus knew this father’s heart was sincere, so He granted both requests he made. Jesus healed the demon-possessed boy, and in doing so, helped the father’s faith grow by leaps and bounds.
Now, how about you? Think of the things that challenge your belief. Ask Jesus to help your unbelief.
Believe that He can make your future greater and better than you can imagine, and He will.
Prayer
Loving Lord in heaven, Please give me an unshakable faith in Jesus so I can see miracles in my life and in the lives of those I love. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
Reflection
For what things do I need faith today? How would I respond to Jesus suggesting I need greater faith?
