He said with a loud voice, “Fear the Lord, and give him glory, for the hour of his judgment has come. Worship him who made the heaven, the earth, the sea, and the springs of waters!”
–Revelation 14:7
How easy it is for me to lose sight of God amidst the stuff of life!
Yet, the megaphone voice of the Holy Spirit echoes through my conscience, calling me to focus my attention on God, to put Him in the spotlight, and to illuminate His dazzling qualities to others.
Every day, many contenders compete for my limited time, interest, and attention. Life with its ferocious multitasking of both the monumental and the mundane can be as crowded as a three-ring stage. Commitments, responsibilities, critical issues, and priceless people all clamor for my notice.
Daily, I interact with those who are critically ill. On some occasions I have rationalized putting my personal worship time on hold to deal with the foreboding of imminent death.
Afterward, I realize that I always regret those decisions.
In the throes of busyness, I find it more important than ever to focus on God — to bow before Him and give Him the spotlight.
Then all else recedes, giving Him the glory. With God illuminated in the blaze of center stage, I acknowledge His worthiness to be front-and-center in my thoughts, my decisions, my life.
This, then, is my worship.
Reflection
How can I make my worship more honest, earnest, and heartfelt?
Prayer
Holy God, I give You the full attention of my thoughts, the full strength of my service, and the full commitment of my time. I want the spotlight to ever shine on You. I want to illuminate Your goodness for all to see. In Christ’s name I pray, Amen.
