Gifted With a Thankful Heart
A devotion on Psalm 9:1
|Katelyn Molloy||Mar 4|
I will give thanks to the LORD with my whole heart. I will tell of all your marvelous works.
A thankful heart is a gift from God.
It can help you fully appreciate the good times, as well as help you hold on during the hard times. God wants us to be happy, and the joy He gives can help sustain us through any type of circumstance.
God showers us with gifts every day, even if we don’t realize it. Though the large, extravagant, unusual gifts are usually the ones that get recognized the most, He gives small gifts every day that often go without notice.
Take a moment to think about all the wondrous gifts God has given you today:
He woke you up.
He painted the sky with a sunrise, or He sent rain to water the earth.
He gave you nature to admire.
He gave you the ability to give thanks.
But most importantly, He gave His only Son as a ransom for you.
Our God is truly an awesome God.
From the smallest to the largest gift, God is showering us with His love. There are so many things for which to thank Him.
Try spending a few minutes each day thinking about all the wonderful gifts God gives — and keeps giving — to every one of us.
Dear God, Thank You for giving the gift of Your Son and for saving us. Thank You for Your love and mercy. Please cultivate a thankful heart in me today. In Jesus’ name I thankfully pray, Amen.
What are some ways I can express my thankfulness to the Lord today? How can I ensure that I thank Him with my whole heart?
