Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they don’t know what they are doing.” Dividing his garments among them, they cast lots.
–Luke 23:34
When Jesus faced His death, He prayed for you and me.
Even though you and I were not there when He was on the cross, it is important for us to understand that He was speaking about us when He said, “Father, forgive them, for they don’t know what they are doing.”
It doesn’t matter what you have done in the past — even yesterday or this morning.
If you ask Jesus to forgive your sins, He will. He wants nothing more than to have us ask for and accept His holy forgiveness. When you accept Jesus as your Savior, He will forgive and help you to turn your life around so that you can live the life God created you to live.
If you ever feel that you are too far away from God, or if you think your life is hopeless, that is the time to listen to Jesus’ prayer on the cross, and remember He prayed it for you.
Come to Jesus. He will not only forgive you, but He will also give you the promise of paradise: eternal life with Him.
“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
1 John 1:9
Prayer
Dear Lord, Thank You for praying for me. Thank You for loving me and for saving me from my sin. In Your name I pray, Amen.
Reflection
Who do I know who could benefit from accepting Jesus as their Savior so they can have forgiveness in Him, too?
