Every Scripture is God-breathed and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for instruction in righteousness.
–2 Timothy 3:16
I was about ten years old before I even knew what the Bible was.
So, when a young preacher explained that the Bible would teach me how to live a good life and have eternal life with God, I was excited to find out more.
From the first time I opened the big Bible on the table and started reading, I was hooked! I couldn’t get enough of it!
When I learned to read and speak English, I was able to get a small pocket Bible to carry with me wherever I went. I took it out in the subway, the bus, and everywhere else so I could read it while I was riding or waiting. I also had the Bible on tape so I could listen to it when reading wasn’t possible.
My habit of reading and listening to the Bible back then is still one I have today. Today, I listen to the Bible on iTunes on my phone. Even though I have read and/or listened to the entire Bible many times, each time I do so, I learn something new.
I want to encourage you to make a habit of reading and listening to the Bible because this habit that changed my life so wonderfully can also change yours!
Prayer
Holy God, Thank You for Your Word, the Bible. Help me to always cherish and study it so that I can know Jesus better and love others as He did. In the name of Jesus, Who is the Word, I pray, Amen.
Reflection
How can I read or listen to the Bible more often in my busy life?
