His lord said to him, “Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a few things, I will set you over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.”
–Matthew 25:21
The best of the best athletes in the world stand proud and tall as Olympic medals are placed around their necks.
You cannot expect to be recognized as one who is highly skilled and proficient in your line of work if you aren’t. Neither do you have the right to expect to be rewarded through pay, advancement, and recognition for outstanding job performance if your work is not exceptional.
If you want to be known as a hard worker and as one who excels in your line of work, then you need to actually be those things. You need to be as productive as possible while taking the necessary steps to master skills and knowledge. When you do these things, you will be noticed and rewarded accordingly.
No matter what your day job is, though, the most important “job” you have is being a Christian. A genuine, growing, vibrant Christian is fully committed to being a 24/7 witness for God, always striving to attain excellence in being like Jesus.
As a Christian, you are serving the King of Kings and Lord of Lords — the Holy One who is never obscured or hidden. If your devotion is authentic, your excellence and faith will be recognized for being like the One who saved you from your sins.
Prayer
Dear God, Please help me to be faithful in what I do so I can hear, “Well done!” from You today. You are my most excellent role model. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
