Commit your deeds to the LORD, and your plans shall succeed.
–Proverbs 16:3
Joseph did not know what to do when his brothers sold him into slavery, but even then, he didn’t lose faith in God (Genesis 37:27-28).
Joseph loved God and dedicated his entire life to do what God wanted him to do even when he was accused of a crime he didn’t commit (Genesis 39). But because he trusted God, God was able to use Joseph to save his family and the whole world from a terrible drought (Genesis 41 & 42).
Your life will likely consist of several ups and downs, good times and bad. But if, like Joseph, you make sure you commit everything you do to God, you will be blessed.
Today’s verse tells us that when we are committed to God, then we will succeed. We may not always succeed according to our plans. I doubt Joseph himself thought slavery and prison defined “success.” However, he remained faithful to God, and God rewarded his faith.
Likewise, the seemingly unbearable and impossible times can be Jesus’ opportunity to work miracles in your life.
Prayer
Heavenly Lord, Please help me to commit everything I do to You. Lead me in the way You want me to go. In Jesus’ precious name I pray, Amen.
Reflection
How will I go about giving my whole life — every action and decision — to Jesus? How will this let Him give me the life He knows I am meant to live?
