Do you see a man skilled in his work? He will serve kings. He won’t serve obscure men.
–Proverbs 22:29
One day a woman was sitting in a job interview feeling like it was a complete disaster.
She was sure she wouldn’t be hired for the position. As she left the room, she noticed a small pin on the floor. She picked it up, handed it to the interviewer, thanked them again for their time, and left.
A few days later, she was shocked when she received a phone call saying she had been hired for the job! Later, the CEO of the company met with her and told her it was because she had cared enough about such a little thing as a tiny pin on the floor that they felt she was someone who would genuinely care about their company.
Little things really do mean a lot. Your attention to the little things in life shows how well you understand that everyone and everything has value and purpose. No work is unimportant. Everything we do, we should do as if it is being done for God because, in a way, it is.
You are a representative of God. What you do and how you do it is a reflection of His character. So be a person of excellence in your work.
No matter what that work is, do it in the Name of Jesus.
Prayer
Loving Lord, Thank You for giving me talents and abilities. Help me to do what I do to the best of my ability for You. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
Reflection
How can I make my work be a better reflection of God’s character today?
